What have I been up to

Having graduated from my degree in Animation at the University for the Creative Arts, Farnham in Surrey almost 2 years ago, I have since developed a great enthusiasm for interactive films, animations and web design. To encourage this interest I took a course in building websites at Suffolk New College and an Easter short course in Creating Flash Websites at Central Saint Martins College, London.

After gaining experience from freelancing my animation, graphics design and new found web skills, in designing & maintaining a website for Suffolk Scout and Guides' summer camp Moot IV and other projects for local organisations, I managed to get a developing role within the web team at magazine publishers Aceville Publications.

 

What I am doing now

Here at Aceville I am being trained up to become a web designer with chance to bring my other filmmaking, animation, modelmaking and interactive skills to the job.

In my spare time, I am also involved in the creative youth organisation IP1 Magazine. As part of the team I have been producing interactive Flash animations, game artwork & design ideas for the website and illustrations for the magazine itself, which is distributed throughout Suffolk.

Through these different opportunities I am learning more about working for clients, keeping to time scales and being under pressure in order to produce high quality work that meets each companies' standards, whilst getting to explore my love of being creative!

 

What I want to do

From throughout my work at University and in projects since I have developed a great passion for the entertainment of children through contemporary technology.

My ambition is to make fun interactive films, games and animations to help kids learn and creatively use their imaginations.

In order to be able to do this I would like to work in a range of different work environments learning valuable skills and experience from my colleagues around me. I am looking to work in a creative company with lots of energy, using my skills in animation and design to prove my abilities and get my name noticed!

I would now like to keep updating my knowledge in web applications such as HTML, CSS & Flash, film editing software such as Final Cut Pro and AfterEffects and animation & 3D modelling in Maya, 3D Studio Max & Softimage XSI. I am also hoping to continue looking into projects using social networking and modern technologies such as smart phone and iPad apps.

 

What about the future?

I have a dream to one day make illustrated books, interactive applications and innovative, contemporary productions for pre-school children's TV, as I enjoy inventing new imaginative stories that can be told in a fun and funky way.
