Character Designs

Developing my simple storyboard characters I then came up with characters to suit NickToons personality and chose to design two monsters. To create a comical dynamic one was small and clever, Toodle; the other was big and clumsy, Banjo.

I then wanted to add texture and colour to their appearance. I tried adding interesting patterns and materials in a range of shades to the characters' aesthetics, as I wanted a raw but distinctive look to the whole ident.

I wanted to create the film using computer animation, therefore I had to think about how these textures would either tile or wrap around the 3D mesh. This was then taken into consideration when choosing the patchwork cloth and reptile skin for the protagonists.

Also view above, the characters' development from 2D Photoshop design to final fully textured 3D computer models, with slight identity changes to look bolder from afar.
