Style Designs
At the same time as working on the textures of the characters, I was also developing a style for the whole film. I wanted to keep a feeling of reality to the setting while adding a subtle edge to it that wouldn't distract from the main action.
Using blown up photos and microscopic images of organic elements, such as bark and frost, I created several style mock-ups. I then played around with the contrast and colours to end up with the summery back garden setting, seen in the final film.
I also chose the blue and orange-yellow colours of the characters to represent the colours of NickToons, which also stand out against the naturalistic backdrop.
